About 75 days before the CA Intermediate exams is the point where preparation either comes together or falls apart. You have most of the syllabus behind you, but six papers still have to be revised, practised and written under time pressure. This guide gives you a practical, week-by-week plan for the last 75 days before the January 2027 CA Inter exams, and shows where a CA Inter test series fits in.
Know the battlefield: CA Inter papers
| Group | Paper |
|---|---|
| Group 1 | Advanced Accounting |
| Group 1 | Corporate and Other Laws |
| Group 1 | Taxation (Income Tax and GST) |
| Group 2 | Cost and Management Accounting |
| Group 2 | Auditing and Ethics |
| Group 2 | Financial Management and Strategic Management |
Under the current scheme, each paper has a part made of case-scenario based MCQs and a descriptive part. Check ICAI's latest paper pattern and the exact exam timetable for your attempt, and plan around the actual dates.
Remember the passing rule: 40% in each paper and 50% aggregate in the group. A score of 60% or more in a paper earns an exemption if you do not clear the group. So your plan must keep every paper above the danger line, not just make your best paper excellent.
The 75-day plan at a glance
| Phase | Days | Goal |
|---|---|---|
| Phase 1: Close gaps | Days 75–51 | Finish pending chapters, first revision, chapter or unit tests |
| Phase 2: Revise and test | Days 50–21 | Second revision, first full syllabus paper in every subject |
| Phase 3: Exam mode | Days 20–1 | Second full paper, final revision from your own notes, rest |
Phase 1 (days 75–51): close the gaps
Start with an honest audit. List every chapter of all six papers and mark each one: strong, needs revision, or not done. Anything not done gets scheduled first, but give yourself a strict limit. In this phase, you cannot afford to study a chapter in the same depth as the first time.
- Pair a practical and a theory subject each day. For example, Advanced Accounting in the morning and Law in the evening. This keeps you fresh and keeps both groups moving.
- Write a test after each block of chapters. Chapter-wise or unit-wise tests show immediately whether the revision has worked.
- Start a mistakes notebook. Every error from a test, every amendment you keep forgetting, every format you get wrong goes in one place.
Phase 2 (days 50–21): revise and write full papers
This is the most important phase. By now you should be revising, not learning. Aim to complete a second revision of every paper and write your first full syllabus paper in each subject.
How to schedule full papers
- Write one full paper every two to three days, rotating subjects so each paper gets tested once in this phase.
- Write at the time of day your actual exam will be held, so your mind gets used to peak performance at that hour.
- Do not revise for the paper the night before. The point is to find out what you actually remember.
Use the checked copy properly
Your score matters less than what the remarks tell you. Typical patterns at Inter are:
- Accounts and Costing: missing working notes, wrong formats, no assumptions stated.
- Taxation: section references missing, incorrect treatment of amendments, calculation slips.
- Law and Audit: answers without the provision, conclusion missing, or too short for the marks.
- FM-SM: theory answers in paragraph form instead of clear points; ratios without interpretation.
Copy each repeated mistake into your notebook, and re-read it before every later paper.
Phase 3 (days 20–1): exam mode
Write your second full syllabus paper in each subject in the first half of this phase. After that, shift to light revision: your own notes, summary charts, the mistakes notebook, and the latest amendments for Taxation and Law.
- Stop learning new topics in the last two weeks. Strengthen what you know.
- Practise MCQs separately for speed; case-scenario MCQs reward careful reading.
- Sleep seven hours. Memory consolidation happens during sleep, and a tired mind makes silly mistakes.
- Plan the gap days between exams: one quick revision of the whole paper, then the high-weight topics.
A sample day in Phase 2
| Time | Activity |
|---|---|
| Morning (3 hours) | Full paper or practical revision (Accounts, Costing, Tax computation, FM) |
| Late morning (2 hours) | Review yesterday's checked copy; rewrite weak answers |
| Afternoon (3 hours) | Theory revision (Law, Audit, SM) with written answers |
| Evening (2 hours) | MCQ practice and amendments |
| Night (30 minutes) | Read your mistakes notebook; plan tomorrow |
Adjust the hours to your routine; consistency matters more than a heroic 14-hour day followed by burnout.
Where a CA Inter test series fits
A test series turns this plan into a fixed calendar. At CA Test Series, the Jan 2027 schedule starts on 25 October 2026, roughly 75 days before the exams, with one subject a day so papers never clash. You can choose:
- Chapter-wise: four chapter tests plus two full syllabus papers per subject, ideal if you still have chapters pending.
- Detailed: three unit tests plus one full mock per subject.
- Full Syllabus: two full mocks per subject for students already in revision mode.
Papers are released at 12:00 AM on their date, but you can write them any time within your validity, and every answer sheet is checked by a qualified CA within 24 hours (48 hours for the Detailed series).
Final checklist
- Every chapter of all six papers revised at least twice.
- At least two full syllabus papers written and checked in each subject.
- A mistakes notebook you have read many times.
- Latest amendments for Taxation and Law revised.
- Exam centre, admit card and travel plan sorted a week before.
